The US military *did* conduct real, declassified aerosol dispersion experiments on US soil in the mid-20th century, but these were limited historical tests—not the daily global "chemtrail" operation alleged today.

### What Contrails Actually Are

Contrails form through basic physics when hot, humid jet engine exhaust meets the extremely cold, dry air at cruising altitudes (typically 25,000–40,000+ feet, where temperatures are often below -40°C / -40°F). Water vapor in the exhaust condenses and freezes into tiny ice crystals, creating visible white trails.
